Michel J. Daydé received his Ph.D. from Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (France) in 1986 in Computer Science. From 1987 to 1988, he was a postdoctorate fellow at CERFACS. He was visiting Senior Scientist in the Parallel Algorithms Group at CERFACS from 1988 to 1995.
From 1988, he is Senior Lecturer at École Nationale Superieure d'Electrotechnique, d'Electronique, d'Informatique, et d'Hydrauliqué (ENSEEIHT) from Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, and, since 1996, Research Director in the Groupe Algorithmes Parallele et Optimisation at Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT).

His current research interests are in parallel computing, computational kernels, full linear algebra, and large scale nonlinear optimization on high-performance computers. He has also been involved in porting industrial codes between shared, virtual shared, distributed memory computers, and networks of computers. He was involved in the ESPRIT III EUROPORT-1 PARALLEL AERO project.
