Workshops

WCGC'2006 - Workshop on Computational Grids and Clusters: Models, Middlewares, Testbeds, Architectures, User feedback, ...

See the WCGC Workshop Programme.

The Workshop follows the VECPAR'2006 Conference focus on cluster and grid environments and tools for efficient management of computations. Computational issues related to cluster and grid are within the topics of the VECPAR Conference and corresponding papers should be submitted to the Conference. The papers on high performance data management issues should be submitted to the "High-Performance Data Management in Grid Environments" Workshop.

Objectives

To bring together researchers, practitioners and people less experimented in grid and clusters to report on recent advances and share user feedback.

Topics

Topics of the workshop include (but are not restricted to):

  • hardware issues for clusters and grids
  • middlewares, distributed systems, runtime systems,...
  • interoperability issues
  • programming environments
  • communication protocols
  • user experience in deploying grids and testbeds
  • grid and cluster management
  • performance evaluation
  • scheduling, load balancing, scalability, fault tolerance issues,...
  • web applications, peer-to-peer,...
  • design of high performance clusters
  • ...

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit either a full paper (maximum 12 pages) or an extended abstract (maximum 6 pages). The manuscripts must be formatted according to the Rules of the Springer Series Lecture Notes in Computer Science. They must include the title of the paper, the name, affiliation, and e-mail address of all authors, and a short abstract (100 words). Submissions should be in PDF format.

Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, or should report interesting feedback on grid deployments, testbeds, performance measurements,...

Paper submission follows the VECPAR procedure throught dedicated web pages. The paper selection will be effected by the Committee running the workshop. Papers will appear in the Conference proceedings and a selection of the best papers will appear in the post-conference book similarly to VECPAR papers.

Papers submitted to the workshop must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. At least one author is required to register for the workshop and present the work. Registration will be done via the Vecpar registration site.

Papers must be submitted electronically, by January 31, 2006, through the WCGC 2006 submissions Web page.

Important Dates

  • Submission (firm) deadline: January 31st, 2006
  • Notification to authors: April 1st, 2006
  • Final paper due: April 28th, 2006
  • Workshop: July 13th, 2006
