Abstract:
We evaluate the performance of preconditioned Second-Order degree iterative methods for the solution of large-sparse linear systems of equations related to the 3D multi-group time-dependent Neutron Diffusion Equation. Efficient solutions to these problems are important for studies of stability and security of nuclear reactors. For this, first we present the results of a comparison among preconditioners available in that are more appropriated for our problem. Secondly, they are compared against results obtained from preconditioners available in the \emph{PETSc} library. Our test examples are based on the commercial nuclear reactor of Leibstadt.
