Berkeley is served by two airports: San Francisco (SFO, 26 miles southwest of Berkeley) and Oakland (OAK, 15 miles south of Berkeley). SFO is served by many international and national flights.

Accommodations in the Berkeley Area are somewhat limited. Therefore, make your hotel reservation at your earliest convenience. Alternatively, VECPAR participants may choose to stay in San Francisco and then take BART to Berkeley. In this case, a hotel near Union Square or a BART station is recommended. As an example, the ride from Powell Street Station to Downtown Berkeley takes about 24 minutes and costs $ 3.65 (each way).

Transportation from airports to Berkeley:
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to downtown Berkeley by BART: Take the AirTran (blue or red lines) from your terminal (or walk) to Garage G /BART Station (see SFO map) then BART direction Pittsburgh / Bay Point. At the 12th St. Oakland City Center Station transfer to the train direction Richmond (connecting trains wait for transferring passengers) and get off at the Downtown Berkeley Station. The ride takes about 55 minutes and costs $ 8.65 (each way).
- Oakland International Airport (OAK) to downtown Berkeley by BART: Take AirBART in terminal 2 (see OAK map) to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station, then BART direction Richmond and get off at the Downtown Berkeley Station. The ride on AirBART takes about 10 minutes and costs $ 3.00 (each way; exact change is required); the ride on BART takes about 23 minutes and costs $ 2.35 (each way).
- Bayporter Express (shared vans from/to airports). The ride SFO - Berkeley costs $ 32.00 (each way) per person, without tip; the ride OAK - Berkeley costs $ 25.00 (each way) per person, without tip.
- Taxi: Expect to pay more than $ 60.00 from SFO to Berkeley, and more than $ 40.00 from OAK to Berkeley.
